2861. Almira Jackson-2241

Gravestone picture at http://www.rootsweb.com/~ohwarren/Cemetery/Morrow/sm.htm#AlmiraSmith

Her tombstone says she died 5 Nov 1900, 71 yr 1 mo 9d. This calculates to a birth date of 26 Sep 1829. But in the census taken the summer of the year she died in - 1900 Census - she was 69 years old and gave her birth date as Sep 1830. She probably had had a birthday and turned 70 by the time she died. Either the engraver or the person giving the census info could have been in error but I will use 26 Sep 1830 from the census data.

The 1900 Census also says Almira has had 4 children who are all still living in 1900.

"Levi Schooley was born August 24, 1842 in Clermont County, between Pleasant Plain and Goshen. On November 23, 1865 he was united in marriage with phoebe Jackson. They were given two children, a son and a daughter. Ulysses Court Schooley preceded his father to the heavenly home by nearly eighteen years. Mrs. Myrtie Bone, the daughter with her husband and son Harold lived in the home with the father and mother.

Our beloved brother came from a large family, four brothers and two sisters surviving him. Brother Schooley came to know and love God when but a boy and united with the church at McHender Chapel. Later he removed to Blanchester and in 1895 came to Lebanon. He has ever been an active Christian worker, was class leader and superintendent of the Sunday School for many years and at the time of his death was a member of the official board at Lebanon.

The Book of Inspiration records the fact that "Joseph was a good man." Levi Schooley was a good man. One who knew him best said of him the very hour of his death "he was ready." He loved Christ's church. He was deeply interested in the meetings that are now in progress again and again have we heard him praying most earnestly for the. Tuesday night he sat in the seat next to the front. Wednesday at two o'clock he was no more for God had called him.

Funeral services were held from the late residence Saturday morning conducted by Rev. W. A. Cooper and interment was made at Blanchester."
