Crawfordsville Journal 3-11-1914
Following an illness of six years with the infirmities of age Robert H. Jackson, retired carpenter and contractor and one of the most widely known residents of the city died at the home of his brother, David Jackson, 308 W. Market St, at two this morning. Mr. Jackson has been unable to work for a number of years and during that time he has made his home with his brother. The deceased was born in this state May 15, 1843, and was past 70 at death. He was never married.
Besides the brother at whose home he died, Mr. Jackson is survived by one other brother, Henry H. Jackson of Danville, Ill. Funeral services will be held from the home where death occurred at two Friday afternoon. The services will be in charge of Rev. JH Oliphant, pastor of the primitive Baptist Church and Rev. WH Fertich, pastor of Trinity ME Church. Burial will be in Oak Hill Cemetery.
Mr. Jackson had a large number of friends in this city and throughout the county. Of a kindly, charitable disposition, he was the kind of man that easily makes friends. Throughout his long illness he was at all times a patient sufferer and he displayed remarkable fortitude and cheerfulness during the time he was confined to his bed. During the past few days his condition had gradually become weaker and hope for his recovery was given up several days ago.

It is this census record that led me to believe the Allen children were adopted. If that is so, they must have been raised as Jacksons, because in later census records the Allen was dropped and their last names were Jackson.
LATER, Aug 2010: Now I have read a bio of this family here and believe my interpretation of the 1850 census is not correct. The bio says nothing about the children being adopted and I note in later census records the middle initial of John and James is not 'A.'. So I'm going to assume an enumerator error and that these children named Allen are actually Jackson children.1850 United States Federal Census

Crawfordsville Weekly Journal, Jan 18, 1901:
Nancy Winsor Jackson was born in Wayne Co., IN. Oct. 23, 1822, and died Jan. 11, 1901, aged 78 years and 3 months. She came with her parents to Montgomery County, IN. when only 3 years old and lived on the farm entered by her father for about seventy-five years. She was married to Daniel Boraker Feb. 18, 1841. To them were born eight children, two of whom died before their parents. The living are William F., John W., George M., Mrs. A. G. Cooley and Mrs. F. M. Berkshire. Mother Boraker united with the Baptist Church when quite young and lived a consistent Christian life. She was a good, kind and affectionate mother and neighbor. She was always ready to lend a helping hand to all in distress and sickness. No one ever knew her but to respect and to love her. After only an hour's illness one of earth's noble woman passed peacefully away. The funeral service was conducted at Wesley Chapel by Rev. A. E. Monger and her body was laid to rest in the Wesley Cemetery.

(I have a dau Mary Ann b in 1845. She does not appear to be on this list tho the M. A. Boraker, age 21 is in the right sequence to be Mary Ann. But there's not only a 4 yr age difference but the record shows this M. A. is male and works in a saloon. So there is a puzzlement here. I have not used this record as a source for Mary Ann's 1870 residence.)
Obituary from Buracker & Boraker Family Newsletters, #43, Dec 2008" about the 1850 census:
Crawfordsville Star, June 3, 1886
William Boraker died in this city on last Saturday, May 29, at 11 o'clock p.m., of congestion of the brain. He was one of our oldest citizens and was always as industrious and honest man. He was born in Champaign county, Ohio, in 1817 and moved to Montgomery county, Ind., in 1833, where he had resided continuously up to his death. His age was therefore 68 years. His wife died in September, 1875. Mr. Boraker leaves three sons and two daughters to mourn his loss. The funeral services were conducted at the residence of his son, Thomas Boraker, on North Washington street, on Monday, by Eld. M. M. Vancleave. The remains were interred in Oak Hill cemetery.Indiana Deaths, 1882-1920 about William Boricker

DAR #412836 M. J. Stutler has a date of death as 1850. But as Elias remarried in 1845, it is more likely that she died in 1840 as per research of Suzan Wedig.
The birth date of 1786 is accepted on the DAR applications but does not agree with the estimated birth year (1794) from the 1850 census. Proper spelling of Kincheloe and county location from:

Of the foregoing trustees, William Davis, John Davis, Jacob Davis, Zebulon Maxson, and Benjamin Thorp, were of those who in September, 1789, had set out from their homes in Shrewsbury, New Jersey, "in order to settle in the State of
Virginia." (Established the town of 'New Salem' Harrison Co., VA)page 403
REV. JAMES BALL DAVIS, son of Jacob and Prudence (Maxson) Davis, was born in what is now Lewis County, West Virginia, October 1, 1814. When he was about fifteen months old his mother died, and at the age of twelve years, he was left without a father. After the death of his father, he remained on the farm with his stepmother until he was in his seventeenth year, when he went to the state of Ohio. He was married, May 17, 1833, to Jane Hopping. To them were born eight children, six of whom lived to reach adult life. At the age of seventeen, soon after going to Ohio, he became a member of one of the Seventh Day Baptist churches there. In 1840, the Pike Church, of which he was a member, granted him licence to preach, and sent him as a delegate (The author is indebted to Mrs. George H. Trainer of New Salem, West Virginia, for material aid in the preparation of this sketch.)pg 404
In 1843, with some five other ministers, he organised a preaching circuit extending from Northhampton to the "Yankee Street" Seventh Day Baptist Church on the Sciota River, covering a distance of seventy-five miles, with eleven preaching stations, requiring four weeks for the trip. These six men took turns in covering this route, and gave their services free of charge. His wife died in 1853, and his own health failing, he gave up preaching temporarily, and returned to Virginia, where he was married in 1854 to Emily Virginia Davis, daughter of William F. and Rachel (Hughes) Davis. He then returned to Ohio and resumed his labours as a minister. In the summer of 1857, he removed with his family to western Virginia, and settled at New Milton, in Doddridge County. He and his wife joined the New Salem Church, but upon the re-organisation of the Middle Island Church, in 1866, he became a member of that church, by which he was at once licenced to preach. On March 1, 1867, the church called him to ordination; and in compliance with a request of the church, a council composed of delegates from the New Salem, Lost Creek, and Middle Island churches met with the Middle Island Church on September 5, 1867. The council recommended his ordination. Accordingly, early in the year 1868, he was ordained. Rev. Samuel D. Davis conducting the ordination service, assisted by Rev. Jacob Davis.
Note from Lisa K. Kelley: Her name was Emily Rickard, rather than Emily Rickart. In my great great grandfather's book, Kingdom Gained, published in 1896, Dudley Hughes Davis refers to 'Miss Emily Rickard, his first love'. I even had to correct the DAR and they accepted that change and it is in my membership papers.

1400. Martin Hughes-20265

His father, Jonathan's pension papers say the family moved to Harrison Co in 1808; so I'm assuming Martin was born while the family was still in Greenbrier County. Jonathan's pension papers said he removed "to Greenbrier County VA in middle of January 1792 until he removed in 1808 to Harrison County, Virginia."1850 Census Dist 13, Doddridge Co., Virginia
