803. Daniel Jackson-876
Betsy Howes has that Daniel was born in Essex Co., NJ but I have not found record of that yet. Also note that Betsy and I believe that Daniel's daughter Betsy is the same Betsy who married Daniel Beers Young. This is conjectured by the circumstantial evidence and is not documented.
1640. Betsy Jackson-1968
Note that Betsy Howes and I believe that Daniel's daughter Betsy is the same Betsy who married Daniel Beers Young. This is conjectured by the circumstantial evidence and is not documented.
804. Col. Benjamin Jackson Jr.-877
OBR: In 1814 Benjamin Jr, with his new wife, joined his father and others in removing from Morris County to Knox County Ohio. They considered this trip as a part of their honeymoon. She was only 15. Sold the Knox County farm and moved to Belleville, Ohio in 1816.
From Isaac's papers: Isaac J. Allen parents moved with the Jacksons, the Youngs, the Denmans, the Ayres, the Bryants, the Axtels, the Mitchells, the Talmages, the Hylers, the Balls and perhaps others to Fredericktown, Knox County, Ohio in 1814. They started when he (Isaac) was only 6 weeks old and he was a 3 months old when they arrived - a 1000 mile trip in a covered wagon!.
From Isaac's papers: My uncle Benjamin Jackson sold his farm (in Knox County) and engaged in milling and merchandise at Belleville and did a large business. For a number of years he was Associate Judge of the Common Pleas Court for that county. His wife was Nancy Robinson, one of the Halsey family, then as now a prominent family of New Jersey.
1642. Elizabeth Robinson Jackson-1202
OBR: They had no children.
Silas' father Daniel moved from Morris Co, NJ in abt 1786, so Silas, although born in NJ, apparently grew up in Northumbland Co, PA. Judging by the dates of the birth of Silas' children, he moved to Knox County, OH sometime between 1809 and 1829. Silas' father, Daniel moved to Knox Co, OH in 1831 Silas drowned in Fishing Creek, PA. (pg 75 OBR)
Silas' first wife Jane died when she was only 23 years old in 1805. Silas married again in 1806 to Mary Peterman. His headstone in Coles Creek Cem says he was 83 years 2 months 24 days old when he died. His name appears on the same headstone as his first wife who died 59 years earlier.
1653. Martha Jane Jackson-1523
OBR says that her name is Martha Jane in Silas' Family Bible in his possession. Internet records of Coles Creek Cemetary list her name as Martha C.
1661. Silas A. Jackson-1530
OBR pg 75: Hannah Jackson Pond writes: "Killed in the Army at Atlanta, Georgia. Many brave men fell on that day, but to mother earth, the nation in all her sacrifices, never consigned a purer patriot, a more noble man, or braver soldier, than Silas Jackson."
In the 1880 census Harrison Twp, Henry Co, Ohio, Joseph was living with his son Noah and his family.
Joseph's obituary includes his own autobiography which was read at his funeral. This obit/bio has been transcribed and put on the Historical Stories section of the website: http://www. jacksonfamilygenealogy.com. It is an excellent history of his times and the character of the man.
Since Oscar Burton Robbins' book, pg 86 indicates that Joseph was born in Luzerne Co and Joseph's autobiography states he was born in Northumbertown Co., I was intrigued enough to look up some history of that area. Apparently Luzerne County was formed in 1786, just shortly before Joseph was born in 1795. I will go with the info supplied by Joseph himself and assume that his birthplace is in that portion now occupied by Luzerne County.
From History of Northumberland County, Pennsylvania Bell's history, Herbert C. Bell, ed., Brown, Runk & Co., Publishers, Chicago, IL, 1891, pg 144
"From 1773 until 1795 the position of Northumberland as the most extensive subdivision of the State is unquestioned. Its greatest proportions were attained in 1785, when, by the act of April 9th, all that part of the purchase of 1784 east of the Conewango creek and Allegheny river was placed within its limits. The county thus extended along the northern line of the State from Conewango creek to the line of Wayne county and from the Lehigh river to the Allegheny, with a maximum breadth equal to nearly two thirds that of the State. . .The first curtailment of this generous domain resulted from the erection of Luzerne county, September 25, 1786."And from the same book, pg 150: "The formation of Luzerne county in 1786 divided the extensive township of Wyoming, and at August sessions, 1789, it was ordered that so much thereof as remained in Northumberland should receive the name of Fishing Creek." Oscar Burton Robins book Pg 74 & 75, speaking of Joseph's father: "Daniel moved first in 1786 to Northumberland County, PA. Called the "Fishing Creek Jacksons".
1678. Amariah Jackson-1690
Amariah is designated male because Joseph's autobiography says he has eight sons. Amariah is the eighth.

"Isaac Jackson (b. 1783), the fifth child of the pioneer(Jacob S. Jackson), served during the War of 1812. He helped clear the land on which stands Fort Henry, Kingston, and assisted in building that fort; he also helped to build the first block house. At the end of the campaign, when he had received his discharge and his regiment was disbanded, he returned to Hallowell. He was granted one hundred acres of land in Peterboro, as a reward for his military service, but afterwards sold the same. He died in 1860, aged 76; his wife survived him by several years, and they now rest side by side in the Old Pettit Cemetery at West Lake. There are living of his sons and daughters: Bela in Hallowell; James in Picton, Thomas and Elizabeth (Mrs. Judah Hutchinson) in Wellington; Henry, on the old homestead; Edgar on West Lake; and Isaac, in Toronto. The others moved to the United States and are either deceased or have not been heard from of for many years."

From the Progressive Men book, "He was a native of New York, who, when a youth of eighteen years, settled in the heavy forests of Prince Edward Island, where, by long years of diligent and perseveringactivity, he developed a fine farm and a pleasant home. His was one of the first axes to resound in the dense woods of that section and all of the deprivations and hardships of a pioneer life were experienced by himself and family, and here he died in 1860, at the age of seventy-six, an honest and revered citizen of the township of Howell."
