CUYAHOGA FALLS -- Holly T. (Hod) Orem, 86, died Feb. 12, 1992.
Born in Sherman, W. Va., he had lived in the Akron area since 1910 and attended Northampton Baptist Church.
He is survived by wife, Pauline; daughters and sons-in-law, La-Gretta and Wendell Beane of Stow, Lynn and Edward Ahwajee of Cuyahoga Falls; sons and daughters-in-law, Gene and Judy of Boston Heights, Lane and Delores of Akron; 13 grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren; sisters, Ruth Burdette of Vienna, W. Va., Pauline Harman of Parkersburg, W. Va., Maxine Ritchie of North Little Rock, Ark.; and brother, Edward of California.

Maxine Josephine Orem Ritchie, 83, was lifted into the hands of our Lord on Tuesday, November 25, 2003, in Little Rock, AK.
She was born January 17, 1920, in Akron, Ohio, to Josephine Jackson Orem and Emmett A. Orem. She graduated from Ravenswood High School in 1938 and Mountain State College in 1940. She reigned as Miss Ravenswood in 1938 and was employed at the DuPont plant in Parkersburg during World War II.
Maxine married Arthur Harmon Ritchie in 1941 and bore their four living children, Arthur Clark, William Jackson, Suzanne and Elizabeth. While in Ravenswood, she was active with the Cub Scouts, Band Boosters and PTA. She participated in community activities such as Welcome Wagon, Green Hills Country Club, American Lung Assocation, Eastern Star, Ladies of the Oriental Shrine and Jesterettes. Maxine worked with the 14 Club that brought big bands such as Duke Ellington to Ravenswood.
In the late 1960's, Maxine and Arthur moved to Arkansas, where she became active in the Daughters of the American Revolution(DAR) and served as the vice regent of the Gilbert Marshall Chapter. She also participated in the Mayflower Society, Fuller Society, Colonial Dames and Quilters Guild. She continued her involvement in the lives of her children and grandchildren as a member of the Pulaski County PTA, Arkansas Arabian Horse Association and English Riding Club of Arkansas.
She is survived by her four children; grandchildren, Angela Wilgus, Matthew Davis, Jerry Skaggs, A.J. Skaggs, Judd Blaney, Josh Ritchie, Conner Ritchie and Jennie Ritchie; and five great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Arthur H. Ritchie; and her siblings, Holly Orem, Ruth Orem Burdette, Pauline Orem Harmon and Edward Jackson Orem.
Concurrent memorial services were held on Saturday, November 29, 2003, at 1:00 p.m. central time at the First Methodist Church in Little Rock, AK, and at 2:00 p.m. eastern time at Roush Funeral Home, Ravenswood.

Arthur Harmon Ritchie, World War II veteran, of Little Rock, Ark., passed from this life on Aug. 29, 2002.
He was born Sept. 7, 1915, in Ravenswood, the son of Ray E. and Pearl Huey Ritchie. Mr. Ritchie enjoyed a long and happy life with significant achievements. He graduated from The Kiski School and was awarded a BSEE and BSME from West Virginia University in 1938. He served as Captain in the Army Corps of Engineers during World War II, seeing action at the Remagen Bridge and in the Ardennes. His noteworthy career as a professional engineer and contractor included 18 years with the Arkansas Department of Mining and Reclamation, 12 years as executive vice president of Criss and Shaver Ready Mix Concrete Company, Little Rock, Ark., 24 years as vice president and general manager of Boso & Ritchie, Inc. and president of Ritchie Realty Co. in West Virginia. He was a registered professional engineer and a member of the Society of Professional Engineers in both West Virginia and Arkansas as well as the National Society. He was a member of the Rotary Club of Little Rock, Ark., the West Virginia Board of Pollution Control and the West Virginia Water Commission. As a member of the town council in Ravenswood, he was instrumental in the design and construction of the Municipal Electrical Generating and Distributing System that served the town for many years. Mr. Ritchie served as president of both the West Virginia Contractors Association and president of the Associated General Contractors of West Virginia. He was a member of the Board of Directors of the Jackson County Bank and the Jackson County Board of Education. Mr. Ritchie enjoyed associating with his friends and colleagues. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church, Little Rock, Ark. His fraternal affiliations included Past Potentate of Nemesis Temple, AAONMS, Parkersburg, and associate member of Scimitar Temple, Little Rock, Ark., First Commander of Dowell Commandry of the Knights Templar, the Scottish Rite, Royal Order of Jesters, Court 156, Parkersburg, and associate member of Court 123 in Little Rock, Ark., and Ashton Lodge #12, Ravenswood.

Donald Gene Jackson, 64, of Parkersburg, formerly of Columbus, Ohio, passed away Saturday, May 1, 2010, at his residence.
He was born March 7, 1946, in Parkersburg, a son of the late Gay and Carrie Derenberger Jackson.
He was an over-the-road truck driver for several years and retired from Crane Plastics in Columbus as an extruder operator.He is survived by his wife of 40 years, Karen Farnsworth Jackson; one daughter, Tanya Jackson (Corey) of Parkersburg; one son, Donald L. Jackson (Darlene) of Grove City, Ohio; two grandchildren, Christian and Paige Jackson (a third grandchild is due in December); two sisters, Elizabeth Whited and Evelyn DeHaven, both of Parkersburg; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by four brothers and four sisters.
The family will receive friends from 5-8 p.m. today at Lambert-Tatman Funeral Home and Cremation Services of south Parkersburg. As requested by the family there will be no funeral service.

Tom Jackson, Sr.
Hastings, Fla. - Thomas L. "Tom" Jackson, Sr., of Kirchherr Avenue, formerly of Lisbon, passed away at 5:31 a.m. Tuesday, January 24, 2006, at the Moultrie Creek Nursing and Rehabilitation Center following a lengthy illness.
Mr. Jackson was born September 1, 1932 in Lisbon, the son of the late Vernon and Florence (Winters) Jackson, and had lived in the Lisbon (sic) his entire life until moving to Florida a few years ago.
A truck driver, he worked for Grim Trucking in East Palestine and later for Herron Transport in Salem until he became disabled.
A former member of the Church Hill Christian Church, Tom was an avid woodworker and he loved to cook and barbecue.
He is survived and will be dearly missed by his wife of 10 years, Beth "Babe" (Cooper) Jackson; daughters, Susan Lewis of Inwood, W.Va., Kathy Sorrell of East Palestine and Kelly Bechdel of Inwood; sons, Thomas Jackson, Jr., of Inwood and Sam Jackson of Lisbon; stepson, Chris Cooper of Columbus; 12 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday at the Eells-Leggett-Stauffer Funeral Home with the Rev. Jan Winnale of the Columbiana Church of the Nazarene officiating. Burial will follow in the Church Hill Christian Church Cemetery.
