JACKSON, 1ST SGT. JAMES A. (RET) — age 63 of Wartburg, passed away Monday, May 24, 2004 at his home following a long illness. He was preceded in death by: his father, Robert Lee Jackson; mother, Lilly Mae Jackson; brothers, Johnny Jackson, Paul David Jackson, and Billy Silcox; sister, Willa Mae Jackson. He was retired from the U.S. Army after serving 23 years including two tours in Vietnam. He was a Master Mason with the Hudson River Lodge, #607 in New York and a member of the American Legion (Galloway Post) in Newburgh, NY.He is survived by: his wife, Diana Jackson of Wartburg; children, Donna Wallace of Columbia, Maryland, Elisha Biggs of Maryville, TN, Abra Youmans of Modena, NY, Charles Jackson of New Windsor, NY; step-children, Heather Myers of Lancing, TN, Angela Ralston of Ft. JACKSON, EDITH A. "MAW", 81, of Coalfield, died Monday, Nov. 8, 2004, at her home. Born Dec. 10, 1922, in LaFollette, she was the daughter of John and Addie Young Hatfield. Mrs. Jackson moved to Coalfield in 1944. She was a homemaker and a member of Corbin Hill Bible Baptist Church in Coalfield.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Robert L. Jackson; two sons, Johnny Jackson and Paul David Jackson; her stepson, James Arthur; her sisters, Thelma Hackler and Nora Thomas; a grandson, Ruley M. Jackson; and a great-grandson, Joseph Seth Jackson.
Mrs. Jackson is survived by her children, Letha Sue Kivett and husband, Ralph, of Mossy Grove, Kenneth Jackson and wife, Louada, and Troy L. Jackson, all of Coalfield, Betty L. Armes and Robert E. Jackson and wife, Susan, all of Wartburg, Mary M. Armes and husband, David, of Joyner, and Leona Hale and husband, David, of Oliver Springs; and her stepdaughter, Bobbie Jean Blankenship of Ohio.
She is also survived by her sisters, Elsie Hedgecough of Cookeville and Opal Stanley of Mooresville, Ind.; and by 23 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren, and several nieces, nephews and extended family and friends. Mary Ellen Crowe of Coalfield was considered Mrs. Jackson's very special friend.
The funeral will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 10, 2004, at Corbin Hill Bible Baptist Church in Coalfield with the Rev. David Armes and the Rev. Mark Bass officiating. Burial and a graveside service will follow at Davis Cemetery in Coalfield. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the church.
