MAHONEY, LOIS JACKSON, 91, of Oliver Springs, died Thursday, October 28, 2004 at Life Care of Morgan County. She was born November 16, 1912 in Morgan Co., the daughter of John C. and Susan Jones Jackson. She was a member of New Mountain View Baptist Church of Oliver Springs, where she served as pianist for many years.In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, H. T. Mahoney in 1968; daughter, Emma Jean Whaley in 1997; Brothers, Clay, Lloyd and Max Jackson and sister, Pauline Jackson.
She is survived by son, Howard B. Mahoney and wife Carol of Waycross, GA; daughters, Judith M. Eaton and husband Lynn and Carolyn Stein and husband Julian; son- in-law, Leonard Whaley, all of Oliver Springs; 7 grandchildren, Mark Stein of Palo Alto, CA; James Stein of Shelton, CT; Jay Stein of Vienna, VA; Katherine Whaley Duncan of Andersonville; Glenda Cloutier of Cranberry Township, PA; Paulette Higginbottom of Marietta, GA and Howard Mahoney, Jr of Maceo, KY. She is also survived by 8 great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held on Sunday, October 31, 2004 at 2:00 pm with Rev. Joe Copeland officiating. The burial will follow at Anderson Memorial Gardens. The family asks that any memorials be in the form of contributions to New Mountain View Baptist Church, 381 Mahoney Rd., Oliver Springs, TN 37840 or Life Care Center of Morgan County, 419 S. Emma Jean Whaley, 61, of Oliver Springs, died Thursday, Sept. 4, 1997, at Methodist Medical Center of Oak Ridge.
She was born in Anderson County on April 9, 1936, the daughter of Herrell T. and Lois Jackson Mahoney. Her father died in 1968 and her mother lives in Oliver Springs.
Mrs. Whaley retired in 1994 from Martin Marietta Energy Systems. At the time of her retirement she was a senior EDP job control assistant at the Oak Ridge K-25 Site.
She was a member of the New Mountain View Baptist Church. At one time, she was active with the Oak Ridge Chapter of Sweet Adelines.
In addition to her mother, she is survived by her husband, Leonard C. Whaley; three daughters and sons-in-la, Katherine Sue Whaley and Timothy Merrell Duncan of Andersonville, Glenda Louise and Daniel Robinson Cloutier of Knoxville and Paulette and John Theodore Higginbottom III of Birmingham, Ala.
She also is survived by a brother, Howard Buster Mahoney and his wife, Carol, of Waycross, Ga.; two sisters and brothers-in-law, Judith Mahoney and Lynn Eaton and Carolyn Mahoney and Julian Stein, all of Oliver Springs; and two granchildren, Emily Paige Higginbottom and John Theodore Higginbottom IV, both of Birmingham.
The funeral will be held at 3 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 7, at New Mountain View Baptist Church in Oliver Springs with the Rev. Joseph Copeland officiating. Burial will be in Anderson Memorial Gardens.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 6, at Weatherford Mortuary.

JACKSON, CLYDE MAXWELL "MAX", 84, of Harriman, died Thursday, May 22, 2003, at Harriman Health and Rehabilitation Center. Born March 12, 1919, in the Back Valley Community of Coalfield, he was the son of John Columbus and Susan Jones Jackson, both now deceased. He resided in Roane County for most of his life and during the last four years he was a resident of Harriman Health and Rehabilitation Center. The family said he enjoyed all of the activities at the facility and loved to visit with his friends. One of his favorite activities was listening to Tommy Hardin sing to the residents, the family said.
Mr. Jackson was a U.S. Army veteran and served during World War II. He was at the invasion of Normandy and then served in the European theater in France and Germany. He was awarded the Silver Star with a bronze arrowhead for gallantry in action. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Mary C. Jackson; a sister, Pauline Jackson; and by a niece Emma Whaley. Mr. Jackson is survived by a daughter, Brenda Stringer and husband, Mark, of Midtown; a son, Brad Jackson and wife, Susie, of Madisonville; a granddaughter, Katie Stringer of Midtown; a stepdaughter, Ann Lay of Totz, Ky.; and by a sister, Lois Mahoney of Oliver Springs. He is also survived by two nieces, Caroline and husband, Julian, and Judy and husband, Lynn; a nephew, Howard Mahoney and wife, Carol, of Georgia; and by 13 grandnieces and grandnephews, Katherine Whaley, Tim Duncan, Glenda Cloutier, Dan Cloutier, Paulette Higgenbottom, John Higgenbottom, Mark Stein, Jim Stein, Joan Stein, Jay Stein, Jen Stein, Howard Mahoney Jr. and Debra Mahoney.
He considered nephew-in-law, Leo Whaley of Oliver Springs, and Joseph Kata, his roommate at the rehabilitation center, as special friends. A graveside service was Sunday, May 25, 2003, at Jackson Cemetery in Coalfield with the Rev. Michael M. Miller officiating. Sharp Funeral was in charge of arrangements. [Oak Ridger]
