Taft Dorothy Deane Jackson Taft, beloved wife, mother and grandmother, passed away Monday April 30, 2007 at her home in Katy Texas. "Dot", as she was known by, was born in Blanco, Texas on August 26, 1931, a loving baby sister to her two big brothers, Jiles and Kenneth Jackson. She was preceded in death by her parents, Obie Frederick Jackson and Pearl Foster Jackson and brother Kenneth.
Those who knew Dot knew she adored her family, and they were her top priority. As a faithful mother she stayed home to raise her children in the 70's. She later returned to a government career at the IRS, Criminal Investigation Division, in Austin, TX. She retired after 25 plus years of service in 1999. A few years later Dot and George relocated to Katy, TX to be closer to their children and grandchildren. Dot's life was a joy and she lived with great enthusiasm and Christian passion. In her later years she could be found reading the Bible, sharing God's Word, on the computer, watching Fox News or listening to Elvis or the Gaithers'. "Mimi" as her grandchildren affectionately called her will deeply be missed. She was a great server of people and others saw Jesus in her actions daily.
She is survived by her husband, George Monroe Taft, who lives and works part-time in Anchorage, Alaska; her son, Scott Taft and wife, Maureen and daughter, Carey Hook and husband, Larry; grandchildren, Colman Taft and Cameron, Greyson, and Victoria Hook. The survivors are all Doris' family so, though she is not named, this does appear to be her obituary. I did not find her marriage record in the Texas Marriage Index at ancestry.com.
