In the following obit, Helen has a daughter, Patsy. Patsy is not in my database as I am unsure which of Helen's husbands is her father; though my guess would be Vernon Wilson.

Burial in Taylor City Cemetery. Rev. Joe Stansell of Milano First Baptist Church officiated. She was a Milano resident for the past 15 years and formerly lived in Houston for 30 yrs. and in Taylor.

She was BORN 2/18/1912 in Salty to M/M. Horace & Mattie Jackson Pinkerton. She worked in a YWCA cafeteria for 25 yrs. and had been a manager of that facility. Married Lewis P. Rush on 10/10/1958 in Houston. Preceded in death by her first husband, Vernon W. Wilson; second husband, Lewis P. Rush; son, Vernon B. Wilson. Member of Methodist Church, Sons of Hermann and Order of Eastern Star.

SURVIVORS: Daughter & son-in-law, Patsy & George Trammell of Friendswood; 2 sisters-in-law, Annie Pinkerton of Salty and Beulah Pinkerton of Austin; 3 grandchildren; 6 great-grandchildren. SS Death Benefit on #464-16-6731.

She was BORN 3/4/1903, reared in the Salty Comm., daughter of the M/M. John Jackson. Married to Joe Sheppard, who preceded her in death. She was a member of the Northwest Baptist Church of Austin.

He was BORN 1/29/1896 and known as Joe. He was a former resident of the Thorndale Comm. having bought the J.W. Jackson farm about 8 miles south of town in 4/1943, previously lived in Waco and 5 yrs. in Hereford before moving to Thorndale where he lived for 25 yrs. and had been living in Austin where he operated a restaurant from 1947 until retirement on 7/1/1965. Member of the Northwest Baptist Church of Austin, veteran of WW-1. Married Miss Stella Jackson on 8/14/1921. Preceded in death by a daughter.

JACKSON, Clifford L. of Sarasota, FL. Age 76. Died 10/14/1987 (Wed.) at Bay Pines Veterans Medical Center. Services held 10/16 (Friday) at Toale Bros. Colonial Chapel and Crematory in Sarasota.

He was BORN in Salty, the son of John & Anner Jackson, and grew up in the Pleasant Retreat Comm. Went into the armed services in 1939 and settled in Sarasota, FL. when he came out of the Navy and lived there until his death. Retired chef for several Florida area restaurants. Member of Disabled American Veterans, Chapter 3; VFW post 3233; American Legion Post 266; member of AARP, all of Sarasota; attended St.Mary's Catholic Church.

SURVIVORS: Vera M. Jackson; son, Jack L. of Jacksonville, NC.; 3 daughters, Wanda J. Jackson, Annina Sparpana and Dianna Mitchell, all of Sarasota, FL.; brother, Andrew of Austin; 3 sisters, Thelma Byrum of Tyler, Maurine McCoy of Taylor and Bernice Owens of Austin; 2 grandchildren; 2 great-grandchildren.

The Texas Birth Record of her son Hugh Franklin Caffey, Jr. gives her name as Mary Ethel Jackson but I (Janie) have not seen that first name on any other record.

I have used the d/o/d from the cemetery transcription. Hugh's obituary gives a different d/o/d for Ethel.

Registered WWI draft, Milam Co, Texas
1900 census shows that Hugh was born Feb 1894 and was 6 at the time of the census, born 2/12/1895 on WWI draft registration, in obituary and on tombstone.

Milam Co, Texas obituary - Hugh F. Caffey, Sr., age 79 of Salty Community died 4/1974 (Sunday) in Johns Hospital, Taylor where he had been a patient. Services held Tuesday in Salty Community Church with burial in Salty cemetery. Rev. Clyde Majors officiated.

Born 2/12/1895 in Milam County the son of M/M Charles M. Caffey, he first married Ethel Jackson. One son was born. Ethel preceded him in death 1/8/1948. He then married Hattie Tucker. He was a veteran of WW-1 and a life-long member of the Methodist Church. 3 brothers and 2 sisters preceded him in death.

Survivors: Wife, Mrs. Hattie Caffey of Salty Community; son, Hugh Caffey, Jr. of Thorndale; 3 brothers, C. N. Caffey of Thorndale, Dow Caffey of Salty and Enoch Caffey of Gay Hill Community near Rockdale; 2 sisters, Mrs. Eula Tucker of Rockdale and Mrs. Myrtle Fletcher of Garland; grandchildren, Connie Sue Caffey and Dale Caffey, both of Thorndale. Boyd was found on the 1930 Census Dist. 10, Austin, Travis Co., Texas. He was working at the State Hospital, was 26 years old and had been married at age 21. No wife or family living at the institution. He and both parents were born in Texas.

Boyd was a surviving brother in Louis R. Jackson's 1976 obituary.
