From OBR, pg 315: "Dick is our only child. He was graduated from Butler University in June 1941. Enlisted in Navy in July 1941 as an Aviation Cadet. Comissioned an Ensign in Navel Air Corps in 1942. Served on the Saratoga in the early part of the Was in the Pacific and South Pacific, and with the British fleet in the Indian Ocean. Married Constance Keller, daughter of Lt. Col. and Mrs. W. H. Keller here in Indianapolis in 1942. They have no children.
Is making the Navy his career, now Fighter Bomber Pilot, located in Alemeda, California. Was decorated for his part in the attack on Raboul in 1943, and at present (1947) is a Lt. (senior grade) in the regular Navy."

Funeral services for James R. Down, 30 years old, 4135 Boulevard place, who died Wednesday at the Methodist hospital, will be held at 3:15 o'clock tomorrow afternoon at the home. Burial will be in Crown Hill Cemetery. It will be a Masonic funeral with services at both the home and at the cemetery. It was announced that a firing squad would be provided from Fort Benjamin Harrison to officiate at the grave. Mr. Down was a captain in the Reserve corps, besides having been a lieutenant in the quartermasters corp during the war when he served twenty-three months overseas..
Mr. Down was born in Utica, N.Y. and lived in Indianapolis for eighteen years. Surviving him are his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Fred M. Down; his widow, Mrs. Coral M. Down, and Barbara, a 3 weeks old daughter.

Mr. and Mrs. Robert L. Jackson of Sycamore, Ill., have notified friends here that they are the parent of their first son, born Friday, March 6. Mr. and Mrs. Jackson have two daughters, Pamela Lee, age 6, and Sharon Ann, two years old.
Mrs. Clarence P. Jackson of West Market Street is the mother of Mr. Jackson. The maternal grandparents are Mr. and Mrs. E. B. Rhyne of Lafayette.Obituary contributed by Jerry Jackson of Park City, Utah

Robert Lewis Jackson, 66, former resident of Whitley County, died at Rockford Memorial Hospital, Rockford, Ill. at 7:30 p.m. Saturday. Sycamore, Illinois has been his residence since 1940. He has been in failing health for 6 years.
He was born April 9, 1914 in Thorncreek Township, the son of Clarence P. and Elizabeth L. Jagger Jackson.
His formative years were spent in Columbia Township. He graduated from Columbia City High School in 1931 and earned his BS degree in Electrical Engineering at Purdue University in 1935. He was a retired manager of Ideal Manufacturing Co., Sycamore, Ill. and a member of the Episcopal Church. He served with the Signal Corp., U.S. Army, during World War II, in Europe.
Mr. Jackson is preceded in death by his wife, Juanita, who passed away in 1969.
Surviving are one son, John Jackson, Rockford, Ill.; two daughters, Pamela Jackson Seaver, PHD, Sycamore, Ill. and Mrs. Glenn (Sharon) Hollister, Camp Hill, Pennsylvania; one grandson, Brett Hollister, one brother, Harold E. Jackson, R 1, Columbia City.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at the Episcopal Church, Sycamore, Ill. Friends may call at Van Natta Funeral Home, Sycamore, Ill. Tuesday evening.
Burial will be at Sycamore, Illinois.
