The 1930 census record shows that his widowed mother, Tennesse Louise Kincannon Spence (9693) is living with he & his wife which indicates that his father, Oliver M. Spence (2403), died before 1930. According to other "Family Trees" at ancestry.com he died in 1925 but no sources for this date are provided. According to those same "Family Trees" Tennessee Louise Kincannon (9693) was born 10 Oct 1864 (which is consistent with the birthdate for her shown in her 1900 census record) in Rhea County, Tennessee and she died 15 May 1934 in Chattanooga. The Tennesse Marriage Record (<http://content.ancestry.com/Browse/view.aspx?dbid=1169&path=Rhea.1886.05.2&fn=L%20F&ln=Kencannon&st=r&pid=6775928&rc=&zp=50>) indicates that Oliver M. Spence (2403) & Tennesse Louise Kincannon (9693) were married on 3 Feb 1884 in Rhea County, Tennessee."

It could be that though she lived in Loveland, her financial chores were handled by her son Jack who lived in Deltona, Florida and thus her social security checks would have Deltona as her last known address.
