John Goodloe, age 63, and his second wife, Annie Neely, age 53, are found in the 1920 Lewis County Census. A cousin, Hannah Susan Atkins, age 47, single, granddaughter of Stephen Pomeroy Jackson and Hannah Bailey, is living with them. The following paragraph was found in the biography of Setphen Goodloe, John's son:
"John G. Jackson, who is president of a bank at Jane Lew, West Virginia, has been a merchant and banker for many years and prominent in political affairs in Lewis County. At one time he was the democratic nominee for the State Senate and for other important offices. On account of his temperance principles and pioneer advocacy of prohibition at a time when such opinions were new and startling, he was forced into leadership of the prohibition party in his section, and at one time was the prohibition candidate for governor. He married Miss Martha J. Bassel, who was born in Harrison County, January 19, 1856, and died March 15, 1908, leaving two sons: James Henry and Stephen G. She was a daughter of Henry Bassel, a brother of the late John Bassel, a prominent lawyer in West Virginia."The complete biography of John's son Stephen G. Jackson is found on this site in the Biography Index.

5109. Thomas Christian White-16903
According to Genealogical and Personal History of the Upper Monongahela Valley West Virginia, Volume II by James Morton Callahan, Professor of History, West Virginia University, 1912 p. 798:
He was born in Upshur Co., WV, July 14 1851 when that was included in old Virginia. His birthplace was on the old White homestead. He received a common school training up to ten years of age, when he ran away with Jackson's army, with which command he remained for three years, and was clothed and fed by the soldiers of the Confederacy, they taking him in as a sort of mascot. The boy-soldier came back to Clarksburg at the end of the war and worked for an uncle, George Bastable, who was a merchant of the town. He remained there until 1876. He married and purchased a farm of one hundred and ninety-seven acres, a mile and half east from Clarksburg, from which he recently sold one hundred and fifty six acres to the Fair Ground Association. He owns two meat markets, operated under his name, but run by his sons and sons-in-law, under the firm name of White Brothers & Company. These meat markets are said to be the finest in all West Virginia. The market between West Pike and West Main streets is a palace indeed and is visited by strangers who have heard of its beauty and utility. Politically Mr White is a Democrat and in church relation is a Baptist. He was married on the farm on which he now lives. His father in law owned the farm where he now lives.
