Informant on d/c was Mrs. Russell Bryner of Annamoriah, WV. His marriage record says he was born in Doddridge but his d/c says he was born in Calhoun. I will take the birth county from the marriage records as that info was prob given by himself.
The birth and death dates I have used differ from what is on the tombstone. The tombstone says b 29 Sep 1864 and d 12 Sep 1943. I have used the birth and death dates from the actual image of the d/c. Would be hard to tell which is correct.

He was born on Mar. 14, 1868, in Doddridge County, the son of the late Charles and Miranda Brown Hughes.
Surviving are his wife, Elizabeth Roberts Hughes, whom he married on Mar. 14, 1901; three sons, Cecil Hughes at home, Oral Hughes of Charles Town and Ersel Hughes of Little Rock, Ark.; one daughter, Opal Miller of Joker; two grandchildren, Delma Dawson of Joker and Velma Dillard of Alexandria, Va.; and numerous other relatives and friends.
Services were conducted by Rev. Gayle McHenry and C.D. Miller.

Lizzie L. Hughes, 81, of Joker, died Friday, Feb. 1, [1963] in Calhoun General Hospital.
She was born in Wetzel County, the daughter of the late Eli and Sarah Little Roberts, and was a resident of Joker for 61 years.
Surviving are three sons, Cecil Hughes of Joker, Oral Hughes of Charles Town and Ershel Hughes of Little Rock, Ark.; one daughter, Opal Miller of Joker, and two brothers, James R. Roberts of Grantsville and Charles Roberts of Charleston.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Oscar J. Hughes, in 1954.
Services were held at Bryner Chapel Church with Rev. Bryan Kendall officiating. Burial was in the church cemetery.

Surviving, daughters and sons in law, Delma and Glen Dawson of Parkersburg, WV and Velma and Warren Dillard of Fairfax, Virginia; two grandchildren, Stanley Dillard and Sherry Eugenio; four great-grandchildren, Stephanie and Bradley Dillard and Joey and Chris Eugenio; niece, Leslie Hughes; five step-children, Wanda Miller, Donald Miller, Mary Riggs, Janet Thomas and Arnold Miller; twenty step-grandchildren; thirty-four step-great grandchildren and ten great-great grandchildren
She was preceded in death by her parents and her first husband Otta J. Deems in 1941 and her second husband Lexie Miller in 1998.
Funeral services will be held Friday, July 26 at 1 p.m. at Stump Funeral Home in Grantsville with the Rev. Carroll McCauly officiating. Interment will be in the Bryner Chapel Cemetery.

Dollie May Hughes Miller, 43, of Hur, died Saturday at a Parkersburg Hospital.
She was the daughter of Charley and Ocie Gainer Hughes and was a member of Bryner Chapel Methodist Church, Joker.
Surviving are her husband, Lexie Miller; two sons, Donald and Arnold, both at home; four daughters, Barbara Riggs, Mary Miller, Wanda Miller and Janet Miller, all at home; four brothers, Leo and Orville Hughes of Creston, Mansel of Akron, Ohio, and Denzie of Parkersburg; and three sisters, Dorothy Reynolds, Faustine Bell and Ellen Starcher, all of Parkersburg.

Orval C. Hughes, 79, of Creston, died Sunday, July 20, 1997, at his residence.
He was born in Calhoun County, a son of the late Homer and Ocie Gainer Hughes. He retired from W.Va. Dept. of Highways. He was a farmer and a Methodist.
Surviving are his wife, Lula Starcher Hughes; two sons, Orval Hughes, Jr., of Elizabeth and Kenneth Hughes of Parkersburg; one daughter, Kathryn Maze of Parkersburg; and three sisters, Dorothy Reynolds, Fostine Bell and Ellen Starcher, all of Parkersburg.
He was preceded in death by four brothers, two sisters, and one great-grandson. Services were scheduled Wednesday, 1:30 p.m., at Stump Funeral Home, Grantsville, with Rev. Lewis Villers and Rev. Delmas Stutler officiating, and burial in Knights of Pythias Cemetery, Elizabeth.
